Today we're gonna be diving into everything progesterone, when it's normal, how to see if you have low progesterone, and actually what you can do about it to support it and bring that baby home.
So sis, if you feel like maybe your progesterone's off or you wanna walk away with just a little bit more knowledge, then don't worry. I got you. Keep listening as we dive into everything low progesterone, let's go.
Hi, I'm Sophie Byfield and when I decided I was ready to be a mama, I thought it would be so easy. Get off birth control. Baby dance, like no one's watching. And poof, I was pregnant. But like many of you, that wasn't my story. After months of negative tests, endless treatments, and more supplements than you can count, I realized that getting pregnant isn't about fixing one piece of your fertility puzzle. It's about bringing your whole body. Back into balance so it feels safe enough to conceive. And this is where we focus on what really matters. Healing your whole body so that you can see those two pink lines. Welcome to the Heal to Conceive podcast.
Oh, low progesterone. Low progesterone is one of the things that I get asked the most about during my TikTok [00:01:00] live on Fridays. How do you know if your progesterone is low, and why is it so important that it's not? Well, progesterone is one of the key hormones needed for implantation. Progesterone makes sure that that uterine lining is thick and juicy and a nice home for that fertilized embryo to implant.
If your progesterone drops too early or it doesn't rise high. It impacts your ability to implant implantation basically fails even if the egg is fertilized. Having low progesterone can really hold back your blessing. Now, signs that you might have low progesterone and you're gonna wanna get a blood test done are spotting before your period.
Horrible. PMSA short luteal face, so 10 days or less. You have a [00:02:00] difficulty staying pregnant, especially in the first few weeks, and a sense of always being wired or tired after ovulation. A lot of the times these signs and symptoms are brushed off as PMS. But if you are experiencing them, it's time to have a conversation with your doctor about getting your blood test done.
Now, you cannot get that blood test done at any point in your cycle to get the most accurate results about your blood serum progesterone levels. You need to take that test on seven days post ovulation or seven DP. If you take it outside of the seven DPO window, you can be left with results that show your progesterone is low when it's really not, or show that it's okay or normal when it's not.
Once you have that test done, we are looking for a very specific result. Now, a lot of doctors [00:03:00] say anything above five nanograms per milliliter, it's normal, but normal and optimized are two completely different things. For fertility, you want your progesterone to be optimized on day seven, post ovulation and an optimized progesterone is anywhere from 12 to 20 nanograms per milliliter.
If you discover that your progesterone levels are not optimized for fertility, you can have a conversation with your doctor about progesterone suppositories. Progesterone suppositories are the gold standard to increase your progesterone levels. They can be taking either vaginally, oral, orally, or with a shot.
Now if you wanna do supplementation at home, there are other ways to help support your progesterone. The first way are topical creams. Now this is a [00:04:00] scream that you rub on your skin, however, big caveat. 'cause I don't want everybody going out there and buying topical progesterone C cream. The thing to note is some people this work for, but a lot of people it does not work for in actually increasing your progesterone levels.
Let me say it again. For some people, topical creams will work. The wild dms, I've seen a bunch of them on the ticky talkie. However, they will not work for every body. For some people, the absorption rate is just too low. There's not enough in the cream, and it really does not rise their progesterone levels.
Now the final option and the one that I support and scream from the heavens is to support your progesterone with diet and lifestyle. Your body can produce progesterone naturally when you do the right things to support it, and those things are decreasing [00:05:00] and managing your stress. Stabilizing your blood sugar, eating a diet rich in healthy, nutritious fats like avocado, olives, olive oil, and fatty fish.
And this is exactly what I teach you how to do inside my signature course. Heal to conceive system where we decode and decipher the thing that is blocking your ability to conceive and bring that baby home, and we heal it so that you can see those two pink lines. The exact module and lesson and area that we focus on your progesterone is nourishing and really discovering what steps you need to take to get that low progesterone nice and high, so you have a nice juicy lining for implantation.
It is all about restoring your body's ability to bring your baby home. If everything seems fine on paper, but [00:06:00] your gut is telling you something is off, then says, I want you to go to the doctor and schedule that appointment on seven days, DPO to get your progesterone levels. Progesterone isn't just a blood level.
It is an indication of how healthy, how safe your body feels, and when your body does not feel safe. It won't allow you to conceive and inside the heal to conceive system, we identified the gaps in your body like progesterone so that we can heal them, so that we can fix them, so that we can get you your two pink lines.
And remember, track your cycle, ask better questions, figure out what your body means, and let's heal it together. You've got this, you're gonna bring your baby home and when you don't got it? I got you baby dust for [00:07:00] all.
