[00:00:00] Hey sis, have you ever been told that you have bad eggs or maybe you're too old to get pregnant and your egg quality is down? Or maybe you've just been digging up information on fertility and have seen the buzz word egg quality? Well, sis, I'm here to tell you today what you can do to improve your egg quality, what the science actually says and what's in your control.
I am Sophie and I'm a fertility couch, and mom and I help women who have been struggling to conceive, take back control of their body, improve their health, and bring their babies home. Today we are going to be diving into all things egg quality and what is in your control. So let's dive in. Hi, I'm Sophie Byfield and when I decided I was ready to be a mama, I thought it would be so easy.
Get off birth control. Baby dance, like no one's watching. And poof, I was pregnant. [00:01:00] But like many of you, that wasn't my story. After months of negative tests, endless treatments, and more supplements than you can count, I realized that getting pregnant isn't about fixing one piece of your fertility puzzle.
It's about bringing your whole body. Back into balance so it feels safe enough to conceive. And this is where we focus on what really matters. Healing your whole body so that you can see those two pink lines. Welcome to the Heel to Conceive podcast. You've probably heard the term egg quality is genetic.
Or maybe your doctor told you that your A MH was low and it really felt like a death sentence, or like you'll never have your own baby. But here's the truth. Your eggs are constantly developing and soaking up nutrients from your body. So [00:02:00] although, and your A MH test may take a snapshot of where you are right now, it doesn't mean that you cannot improve your egg health over time.
If you've been feeling like you have bad eggs and you're never going to bring your baby home, sis, I want you to know that there's hope. There is hope in improving your egg quality and conceiving naturally. Egg quality isn't just about age or genetics. It is about the environment, uh, inside your whole entire body, how healthy your body is, not just your reproductive system.
Before we dive too deep, let's first discuss what is egg quality. Egg quality refers to how healthy and capable an egg is in being fertilized and developing into a healthy pregnancy that can be carried to term. Egg quality is considered good cyst when it [00:03:00] has the right number of chromosomes, and it has the ability through healthy mitochondria to turn into an healthy embryo.
Egg quality is considered poor or bad when it has missing chromosomes or low energy, therefore impeding its ability to fertilize, implant and grow. Now they say that egg quality goes down as you age for two main reasons. One, chromosomal mistakes start to happen within the egg, and two, the mitochondria doesn't have enough energy in the cell for it to develop and multiply.
Your eggs are dynamic and they are constantly growing and maturing and taking nutrients from multiple sources. It takes 90 days for your egg to get the spark of life until ovulation. And during those 90 days, sis is when you can make beneficial changes to the health of the egg. Let's talk about my [00:04:00] client.
When she came to me after her first round of IVF, her doctor told her that she had poor quality eggs and that she was gonna need to use donor eggs. Sis was devastated and heartbroken. More than anything. She wanted to carry her own child, and I get that. I really do. So we spent 120 days focusing on improving her egg quality.
We looked at mitochondria health. We looked at her diet, exercise, and stress management. This client of mine did another round of IVF at about 120 days later. Her doctor was so surprised at the number of mature follicles and eggs that she got and how many of those eggs actually made it to blast. You have the ability to improve your egg quality cysts.
You're not stuck, you're not broken. You just haven't been taught what's in [00:05:00] your power. So what does the science say about actually improving your egg quality? Well, sis, there is a group of things that we cannot do when it comes to our eggs and there's a group of things that we can't, what we can't change, number one, we can't make more eggs.
You are born with all of the eggs you're ever going to have. Two age does play a role in the health of your eggs. You can't reverse your age unless you have a time machine. And if you do have one, then we need to become best friends. And number three, you can't reverse chromosome issues or challenges if they have already happened.
That's enough about what we can't do. Let's focus on what we can do. Number one, we can influence or even control how the mitochondria work inside the egg. That is all about energy. Number two, we can work on reducing [00:06:00] oxidative stress. Which is really DNA damage, which leads to chromosomal challenges. And number three cyst, we can really work on improving hormone balance within our body, which really supports a nice juicy ovulation.
So what does this mean for you? Well, cysts, the actions you take today impact the health of the eggs You ovulate 90 days from now. So we always have the ability to be getting healthier, to build a stronger reproductive system, and to get the best quality eggs we can by the actions we implement every single day.
So how do you improve your egg quality? Well, since here are four science backed strategies to help you improve the health of your eggs. Number one is mitochondria support, and the mitochondria are the energy source for the eggs. Think of your eggs like tiny light bulbs. If they don't get enough [00:07:00] energy, they flicker out before they get a chance to do their jobs.
That's where the mitochondria come in. They are the power source of every cell in your body, including your eggs. So how do you power up your eggs? We need to eat coq 10 rich foods like salmon, sardines, nuts, and sea. Consider taking a coq 10 supplement and get quality sleep. Cis sleep has a huge impact on the energy of the cells in your body.
Number two, reduce your oxidative stress. When we reduce our oxidative stress. We protect our eggs from DNA damage. Think of oxidative stress like rust forming on metal. The more oxidative damage your cells experience, the harder it is for the egg to maintain healthy DNA structure. So what do you do to reduce your oxidative stress?[00:08:00]
You wanna incorporate more antioxidant foods like berries, leafy greens, and dark trapline. You wanna reduce your toxic exposure, so plastics looking at your makeup and lotions as well as chemicals you use in your household. And look into vitamin C or vitamin E as an antioxidant or cell support. And number three is to balance your blood sugar for hormone health.
Biking blood sugar over and over is like sending your hormones on a rollercoaster ride up and down and all over the place, sis and your eggs. They need stability, not chaos. So what do you do? Well, sis, if you are eating carbs, you wanna be eating slow, digesting carbs like your quinoa, like your sweet potato.
You wanna reduce any processed foods and sugars from your diet, and you always wanna pair carbs with protein and a healthy fat. And number four is to improve your hormone balance for ovulation. [00:09:00] A high quality egg is great cyst, but if you ain't dropping that egg, if you're not ovulating, then you ain't getting pregnant.
So we wanna be tracking our ovulation to make sure our luteal phase is strong enough for implantation. We want to make sure that we're not over exercising or under exercising. So sis, if you ain't walk in doing Pilates or yoga yet, jump on that. Let's get that started. And last but not least, making sure you're getting healthy fats in your diet, like avocado, nuts, seeds to support ovulation.
So now we know what egg quality is. What is considered a poor or bad egg? We understand the things that are in our control and the things that we can't control when it comes to our eggs and egg quality. So what do you do next? What do you do with all this information? Well, since we are gonna put it all together in a 90 day plan, so if you got your pen ready, then I got you.
The first thing you're going to do is get very [00:10:00] consistent with your nutrient intake. Okay, we wanna make sure we're taking coq 10 antioxidants and eating healthy fats. The next thing we're going to do during these 90 days is focus on lowering the inflammation in your body. This means stress management, reducing any toxins.
Inflammation can block implantation, and it's one of the missing pieces that we forget about when we're starting our fertility journey. Or maybe it hasn't even been mentioned to us. If you wanna learn more about inflammation, click right here to watch my video on inflammation and fertility. And the last thing you wanna be doing to improve your egg quality is really be focusing on maintaining a nice consistent blood sugar levels spiking lowering roller coastering.
Being all over the place with your blood sugar is not going to help your egg quality, and it's really not gonna help the health of your body. Seth. So balancing meals, [00:11:00] reduce processed sugars and throw away the chocolate covered almonds that are hidden under your desk.
But in all fairness, sis really maintaining a nice, stable, balanced blood sugar is going to make a difference in the quality of your eggs and the quality of your reproductive health. The key here is consistency. Small changes over time really add up to a big difference in the health and quality of your egg and the health and quality of your body and reproductive system.
90 day SISs, you got this. So here's the chooses the quality of your eggs does go down as you age, but you're not perilous. You are in control of the health of your mitochondria, the health of your body, how much stress you have. Sis honestly, the amount of sugar that you have in your diet, you can do this [00:12:00] sometimes.
Some of my clients get upset that they have to change everything and do everything to get pregnant while other people get pregnant so easily. I hear you sis. I a hundred percent hear you. But that isn't my story. That's not your story, and I'm gonna be honest. Getting pregnant isn't as easy as they make it out to be in the movies.
Most of us, majority of us, have to work for it, make some lifestyle changes, and figuring out the missing pieces of our body. Egg quality could be that missing piece for you. Building the healthiest eggs and body possible for reproduction is the fastest way to get pregnant. It really is the fastest way.
So let me know below. What is one thing that you can implement right now to help improve your egg quality since you have the ability to bring your baby home. I know you do. [00:13:00] You got this. You truly do. And when you don't got this, I got you Baby. Death for all.
