[00:00:00] Hey sis, have you been trying to conceive and you're seeing the word egg quality everywhere and you're not a hundred percent sure what it means? Well, don't worry. I got you. In today's video, we are diving into egg quality and the huge role it plays in inside your fertility journey. We're gonna be discussing what it is, one, it starts to decline, and most importantly, how to improve it.
Stay tuned 'cause I got you. Hi, I'm Sophie Byfield and when I decided I was ready to be a mama, I thought it would be so easy. Get off birth control, baby dance, like no one's watching, and poof, I was pregnant. But like many of you, that wasn't my story. After months of negative tests, endless treatments and more supplements than you can count, I realized that getting pregnant isn't about fixing one piece of your fertility puzzle.
It's about bringing your whole body. Back into balance [00:01:00] so it feels safe enough to conceive. And this is where we focus on what really matters. Healing your whole body so that you can see those two pink lines. Welcome to the Heel to Conceive podcast. All right, sis, let's dive into everything egg quality. I remember when I was on my start and conceive journey that I was lost and overwhelmed with everything, egg quality.
I think I was on 20 different supplements to improve my egg quality at one point, and I still had no idea what egg quality was. It wasn't until I became a fertility doula and coach that I really dove into the research and the science bond egg quality and what you need to do, what you should implement to improve it.
Egg quality is a foundational piece of getting pregnant. A healthy, strong egg can fertilize, implant, and multiply [00:02:00] and turn into a healthy, beautiful pregnancy. When your egg quality is diminished or low, it can take you longer to get pregnant. It can lead to miscarriage, and it can actually block your blessing and keep you from bringing your baby home.
So what exactly is egg quality? Well, egg quality refers to how healthy your eggs are, in particular your chromosomes. A good quality egg has the right amount of chromosomes to be able to develop into a healthy embryo. A poor quality egg can have abnormal chromosomes, which can lead to it not being fertilized or even not being able to implant into the uterus.
There are several things that influence the health and quality of your eggs, your age, your diet, your lifestyle, exercise, the supplements you're taking all have an impact on the health of your ex age. Since we're born with all of the eggs we're ever gonna have, our egg quality starts to diminish at the age of 35.
[00:03:00] So if you are older, this could lead to poor quality eggs. Lifestyle, things like alcohol, smoking, drugs, poor quality diet can all affect your egg. And honestly, smoking in particular does the biggest damage to your egg quality stress. Girl, you know, I have said it before and I am saying it again. Stress can affect your hormone balance, which can then have an impact on your egg quality.
So now that we know what egg quality is and we know that it diminishes with age, which is what we can't control, the things that we can control, the things that we can start implementing right now to help improve our egg quality. Improve our diet, exercise, stress management, and a sprinkle of supplements.
Girl, if you start with supplements, you can do more damage than good for [00:04:00] diet. You wanna be focusing on eating a nice, rich, healthy, clean diet. If you've watched my fertility, nutrition video, you know that there's three different fertility friendly diets that can help you to improve your eye quality and improve your overall reproductive health.
The video is right here if you want to take a look at it. Exercise, moderate intensity. Exercise is absolutely amazing for your reproductive health and your egg quality. Cis going for a walk. Swimming even. A light jog for some people is all going to bring nutrients to the womb. Helps to the womb and improve your reproductive health overall.
If you're on a fertility journey or you're just trying to be healthy, implementing exercise can be a game changer for your journey. Managing your stress, sis, I cannot say this enough. Managing your stress is imperative for a trying to conceive journey. Stress can throw your hormones completely outta whack, making it harder for you to conceive.[00:05:00]
You want to do things like yoga, meditation, even going for a walk to expel the stress from your body so it doesn't have the ability to impact you. Alright, let's dive into supplements. Supplements. Remember, supplements are an added bonus, not the main event. So pick and choose or speak with a professional, a coach or fertility doula to really help you get the right supplements for your body.
But in terms of improving egg quality, coq 10 is your jam. Coq 10 helps with cell division so that the egg is strong enough to be able to divide multiple times into the embryo. You wanna make sure you're taking a good quality prenatal with folate and if you are working with a doctor or a fertility specialist, and only if you are working with someone who has looked at your DHEA blood work.
Then I would suggest [00:06:00] you asking about DHEA, but do not. Do not go and supplement DHEA on your own because it can cause more harm than good. I would absolutely love to say if you start improving your egg quality right now, you're gonna feel the changes immediately. However, it takes up to 90 days for your egg quality to start to improve 90 days.
You need to be consistent with your supplements. You need to make sure you're taking the right ones for your body and not just taking everything you find on the internet. Guilty. I was on 20 and really I got pregnant when I was on five. Cleaning up your supplement regimen is going to help you more than taking everything you see.
Quality is truly influenced by the choices you make over time, sis. It's by managing your stress, eating right, exercising and taking the right supplements for your body. But [00:07:00] remember, and this was the fun fact, I didn't know, there is no way to truly measure egg quality. What? Yeah, there's absolutely no way to truly measure it.
We know as a scientific community that your fertility starts to decline at the age of 35. Yeah, that means that those quality eggs start to diminish. However, there's no test. There's no way to measure if your egg quality is poor or not. A MH and A FC will give you a bit of a guide, but it's not a conclusive test to tell you that you have low quality eggs.
Everything I am asking you to implement to improve your egg quality is actually gonna improve your overall reproductive health and your journey. This is about taking a look at the whole body, and if you don't start to implement some of these tools and steps and lifestyle changes, you can be on this struggle bus way [00:08:00] longer than you need to be and that you want to be.
We are looking and taking a holistic approach to bringing your baby home, and that includes changing up your diet, exercising, and improving your egg quality. So sis, here's exactly what you can do right now to start improving your egg quality number one. Clean up your diet. Number two, manage your stress.
Number three, talk to a professional about getting on the right supplements for you so that you're not over supplementing your fertility journey. This whole egg quality thing can be super overwhelming, but don't worry. The most important thing to know is that it's all about taking a holistic approach to your reproductive health, building the healthiest environment possible to bring your baby home.
