[00:00:00] Hey, CYS, did you know that the right type of exercise can help you bring your baby to you? Help you see those two pink lines and the wrong type? Yeah, the wrong type cyst can actually block your blessing and hold you back. Today in our healing from the Inside Out series, we're gonna be talking about fertility and exercise, how much you should do, what type you should do, and what can really help you get those two pink lines.
Stay tuned. Hi, I'm Sophie Byfield and when I decided I was ready to be a mama, I thought it would be so easy. Get off birth control. Baby dance, like no one's watching. And poof, I was pregnant. But like many of you, that wasn't my story. After months of negative tests, endless treatments, and more supplements than you can count, I realized that getting pregnant isn't about fixing one piece of your fertility puzzle.
It's about bringing your whole body. Back into balance so it feels safe [00:01:00] enough to conceive. And this is where we focus on what really matters. Healing your whole body so that you can see those two pink lines. Welcome to the Heel to Conceive podcast. Exercise is beneficial to your overall health. But when it comes to fertility and reproduction, finding the right balance is key to everything.
Two little movement cyst can hinder your blood flow to the uterus in the womb and really throw your hormones out of whack. But you see too much exercise is a stressor on the body, and we know that stress is not good when you're trying to conceive. Also, too much exercise can really throw off your cycle, making it harder to predict ovulation.
When I started my 12 e healing journey sets, exercise was the game changer, X or size. You see, not only did it [00:02:00] help me build the healthiest body possible, it really helps with reducing stress, feeling stronger and healthier in my skin, and bringing all of the nutrients I was taking either through supplements or through my diet to my womb.
But the key to incorporating exercise is finding the right balance for your body. I can tell you that I worked out six days a week. There was a mix of strength training, high intensity, low intensity cardio, as well as some yoga and meditation. But sis, I've been working out for 23 years, so that's not a big deal.
My body was used to that stressor. But for you, if you are a beginner and you're jumping in high intensity, exercise can actually be very damaging on a fertility journey. So the question becomes, what do you do? What are your steps? How do you make an exercise program that benefits you and brings you your blessing instead of hindering you?
Well, the most important thing to note, it's not about getting [00:03:00] in the best shape of your life. It's not about going both to the wall or working out as hard as you can. It's all about creating a healthier inside and exercise and movement is a part of that. The key to fertility friendly exercise is you're working on nurturing the body, not exhausting it.
So let's look at the three types of exercise that can help you bring your baby home if you're not an advanced exerciser already. Number one, low impact cardio. Low impact cardio are things like walking, light, cycling, swimming, anything that's gonna keep your heart rate up for extended period of time. But really it's just working on the cardiovascular system, not stressing the body.
Low impact cardio is all about blood flow and bringing nutrients to the womb. Number two, strength training. Strength training. Muscle building is lifting light to moderate [00:04:00] weights, or I won't even say moderate to heavy. In some cases where you are building muscle mass, having muscle on the body helps to regulate insulin levels and improve hormone balance.
It really is the secret sauce or your game changer for your body. And number three, MINDBODY practices. You see MINDBODY practices such as yoga, Pilates, stretching, all help to decrease stress in the body and help with hormone balancing. The key to the MINDBODY practices is to really slow down and release whatever tension you are feeling inside.
Okay. This can help boost your fertility journey by allowing you to recenter your thoughts, your mind, your body on bringing your baby home and letting go of any frustration, pain, and overwhelm that you're carrying within the body. When you incorporate the right type of movement, and I mean the right type of movement for you, there's no good or bad movement, but the right type of movement for you.
When you incorporate the right type of movement for you, [00:05:00] you increase your chances. You increase them by bringing blood flow to the uterus. You increase them by regulating your hormones, by regulating your cycle, by even jump-starting ovulation. The benefits outweigh the negative risks when you incorporate exercise for your body.
Many people think that they have to get their body into the best shape possible for pregnancy, and then they go super hard in their workouts doing high intensity interval training, over training, running for long times, lots of high impact activities, and those can all block your blessing. We forget that exercise is a stressor and stress has a negative impact on our ability to conceive.
When we slow things down and bring things back into balance, we increase our chances. Remember, the key to a fertility journey and a [00:06:00] healing to conceive journey is all about creating balance within your body, not mine, within yours. The two extremes just don't work in this case. Over exercising causes problems and not exercising at all, or moving your body causes problems as well.
We wanna find the balance, your best balance, and I don't mean structured exercises where I have to do a bootcamp every week. Your balance could be parking further away at the grocery store. It could be doing an extra lap around the parking lot or sending you printing to the printer further away so that you're getting in more steps.
It's all about finding the balance for your body. So how do you start to incorporate fertility friendly exercise? What does a plan look like for you? So here's what you're gonna do, and we're gonna talk about the beginner plan. If you're just getting started with exercise, if you've been exercising consistently for a long period of time, [00:07:00] you're good to go.
Keep doing what you're doing. All right. The beginner plan, let's go one, start with 30 minutes of low impact cardio. More times than not during the week. More times than not. I'm not saying three days, I'm not saying four days, I'm just saying more than you did last week. Number two, you wanna start putting on muscle mass, and that's just a little bit of toning.
You don't need to get bulky, don't get scared. Uh, put on some muscle mass to help with insulin regulation. And number three, incorporate yoga, Pilates, meditative breathing, and stretching at least once or twice a week. You know, creating the perfect exercise plan for your body. It is a little bit of work. If you're anything like me or some of my clients, it's hard to get started.
I got you. Don't worry. We don't have to do all three at once. You can start with just walking more than you did last week. That simple. Enjoy it. Listen to a book. Be outside in nature. No [00:08:00] headphones, no cell phone, nothing, and just enjoy the time. And this is exactly what we talk about inside the Heel to Conceive tribe.
Just how to move your body more as another way to support your chances and increase them. Not everything needs to be structured exercise. Sometimes it's just going downstairs to get some water a few more times than you did last week. That's one of my favorite things. No longer do I bring a big jug of water, of stairs.
I now bring a small cup so that I can run down the stairs more to get more movement in. Tell me below, how are you gonna start to increase your movement to support your fertility and your journey to baby? So if you are ready to start a fertility friendly exercise plan, then sis, I got you. My three keys are be consistent.
Start with strength. And don't forget to stretch. Don't worry. We're gonna see those two pink lines this year, sis, come with me on this journey.
